Hey Felix,

Glad you've started a journal as well. Will be following your progress mate.

I wish I was 8 pounds away from contest condition!

There are many mysteries in bodybuilding but for me:

"Why has felix macalinden never had a journal?" is right up there! A long time coming mate, will be good to get the thoughts of a seasoned competitor

Thanks Ben and Pete. I used to write down my workouts when I was younger but I have not done this for many years so hopefully it will help me to have a journal I also hope it may be able help others as well.

Great to see you doing this Felix, be interesting to get your thoughts as you come down for shows.

As a carb freak - how do you live day to day with that few carbs in your system, compete in BB and in Powerlifting - that would kill me Grin

Thanks Scott and Steve. There is around 260g carbs in my diet and I will not really go any lower than this a few weeks ago I was eating between 350 and 400g of carbs a day so allow 260g is pretty low for me quite a few people drop there carbs a lot more than this allow I know Steve you consume alot more carbs than me but you carry alot more muscle mass than me to and you still get really ripped for shows and you lift very heavy weights as well.
I trained legs and shoulders today note I do high rep leg extensions after a knee injury I got doing these heavy years ago thankfully my knees feel alot better since I starting doing walking lunges just over a year ago. Side laterals and bentover laterals are done with straight arms also squats are done as low as I can go but not proper powerlifting depth.

My weight last week was 75kg or 11.11.5lbs this morning was 11.10lbs so I have lost 1.5lbs so hopefully I am on coarse to at my best at the first shows I do this year. At this stage last year my weight was 12.10 so I was only really in top shape at the shows I did from Sept onwards.

I went to the BNBF NI Club today in Bangor which Eric Dowey runs I really enjoyed it an hour an half of good posing practice and then me and Sharon went and trained in Fitness first in Bangor I have never been in it before so quite a bit of the equipment was new to me but it is always good to train somewhere different. Felix, good journal by the way, but I must comment on your diet, I feel you rely too heavily on whey protein mate, why do you use this as basically your main source of protein?

Nathan I take a fair bit of whey 75g of my 190 odd g of protein a day come from whey I find it very easy to mix with my weetibixs and oats and when I want it to go in to my sytem quickly after training I mix it with water and a banana I used to take it with dextrose. When I was younger I used to just normally get all my protein from the food I ate taking up to 350g a day but back in those days protein drinks mostly tasted disgusting and were very hard to take but now a days I really like the taste of the whey I take allow I would still say it is better for most people to get the most of their protein from the food they eat.
