Good Morning All!

Back to journalling in the written format rather than just posting on the Instagram like a cool kid ( @that_deadlift_fella if you're interested)

Having locked my sights on pulling 250kg after coming out of last years bodybuilding competitive season (which was Bo'shank with a few class wins and a best presentation award) I hit it in Russia after hitting the scales at weigh in at 74kg. This was a beautiful competition and day which saw a 5kg PB and 2nd overall strongest raw deadlifter. In October I had struggled to pull 210kg so it was greatly informative working out how to regain strength.

Now I want to get back on stage because I love the training and the process. I will journal the general eating and training in here over the next prep and if anyone wants to pass comment, troll or otherwise chat please get stuck in 😊

Last nights session
Upper 2 - chest/back
Bench 5 x 10 ss lat pulldown 5 x 10
Dips 5 x 10-12 ss chest supported rows
Side laterals ss face pulls

Conditioning tonight and heavy legs tomorrow

You know it makes sense!

How's the prep going Matt? I am due to go to a few of the BNBF shows to watch so may see you there, especially the Northern as that does not clash with owt.

Yesterdays Training

Fluff - Bi's/Tri's/Calves/Conditioning

4 x 10-12 reps of each
seated calf raises
Barbell Curls
hammer curls
rope pressdowns
French Press (ooo errr)

Then 2 x 3 minute rounds on the uppercut bag and the speed rope. quite fat and out of shape at the moment but really enjoying the shift in focus.

Tonight a big deadlift session with a gent I work with. On Monday had a great time training with an old school mate, I nopw make a point of training with as many different peeps as possible as its a nice release from the pressures of the day to day.

To nights deadlift/lower session

Sumo deadlifts
Working sets 3 x 180/200/210/210/210
Test 2 x 235kg - well pleased with this, a 7.5kg sumo PB and a double with it. The firsts went easily so decided to have a crack at another, but hitchy at the top but that's all part of the fun

Leg press
5 x 12

Weighted Hypers
5 x 10

Leg extensions
5 x 10

Done

Tomorrow will hit bench/back and some conditioning

It's good to be back at the ol bodybuilding

Well this year got side tracked with mission 250kg which has been done now so after so after doing the ABPU British single deads on Saturday I am ready to go back to a more bodybuilding centred training style.

Saturday was a really good crack, lots of fun and G hit 125kg like it was nothing @50kg

I weighed in at 74.5 kg and my lifts went as follows

215kg - like it wasn't there
235kg - same
255kg - got stuck mid thigh

The 255kg would of got my a high enough wilks to compete in the Irish Pro Deadlift championship but it wasn't to be!! Next time but for now my joints are banged up and some nice bodybuilding is in order followed by competing at the NPA Yorkshire as it's one of the few I haven't done with the NPA. Then once qualified I can fart about competing in powerlifting for the lulz while keeping the bodybuilding rolling and having a bit of a diet break.

I got a quick upper push sesh at the hotel in Edinburgh this morning

Chest press machine 5 x 15-8
Dips 5 x 8
Seated shoulder press 4 x 10
Side laterals 4 x 10
Oh tricep extension 3 x 10
Tricep pressdown 3 x 10
Leg raises 2 x 12

Hey Shredder - yep that's the plan, I find it a bit more enjoyable at the moment and have decided to just follow the light.

It was great fun up in Scotland, I found a great burger joint on the royal mile called Burgers N Beers - definitely worth a punt if you are up there.

How prep going? Looking forward to watching the ukdfab finals!

Thanks Glen, all being well it will happen in 2019. I have throttled back on the heavier work and I am doing more volume in place of it. I am going to just bodybuilding in 2018 and then will get fat/strong into 2019 and chase that. I feel a bit burned out not tbh

Great to see you back and enjoying the heavier compounds, how's everything feeling?

Cheesy damn Kempy and his excessively long acronyms... although possibly an improvement to ponder 😁
