Terribly sad to hear of the passing of Daz Vernon. Apparently he competed last weekend and passed away in his sleep last night, just 39 years old! I remember him winning his BNBF pro card like it was yesterday. Sad news.

Terribly sad to hear that yesterday. I only knew who he was vaguely but seems like a well thought of chap and so incredibly young. RIP lad

Sad news.  I remember watching the close battles between Daz Cooper and him onstage.

RIP

To be honest, I had to Google him to realise his achievements, but sad at that age, only a year older than me.  RIP

The sport continues even when we move onto pastures new. Darren will always be the first Brit to win the Yorton Cup!!

Indeed, when it comes to contest records he will always be one of the best we've produced.

I only met Darren twice but he was a lovely guy and I enjoyed both of our chats.  Terrible shame that he has been taken so young.

This is shocking news. He literally posted the day before having been picked up by BPI as a sponsored athlete. I remember some of those epic battles including him, Daz cooper, mike hannam and Raymond James. 39 is no age at and my thoughts go to his family

And the fact that when he won the Brits in 2008 he beat no other champ than David Kaye!!

Very sad news I can remember seeing Darren winning an excellent MW class and going on to win the overall at the BNBF Britain 2008.

Tragic news, and such a young age, my thoughts and condolences go out to his family.

Natural bodybuilding has lost a very gifted athlete.
